Make plans to be in the Geocaching Capital of the Midwest™ August 14-16, 2009 for the 2nd Annual West Bend $1000 Cache Ba$h™.
Attention Beginner and First-time Geocachers: If you’re new to geocaching or have never geocached before, don’t worry. Several experienced geocachers will be on hand Friday night and Saturday during the event to help get you started.
The first 250 teams to register will get each get a FREE gift bag!
Cut off for registration for the large cash prizes will be August 6, 2009. You can still participate and register for the event after that, as well as be eligible for the small prizes and get the downloads until 2 p.m., but you just won't be eligible for the large cash prize drawing listed above. We have to know how many booklets to print so get your registrations in and be sure to list how many will be attending as soon as possible!
For the 2008 inaugural event, 400 geocachers from 171 teams and hundreds more spectators gathered in West Bend for a weekend of fun. This year’s event will again bring together geocachers from around the Midwest for more festivities, door prizes, contests, events and great geocaching amid West Bend’s many natural areas, trails and historic sites. New for 2009:
- Water Caches – New caches in the beautiful Kettle Moraine State Forest will be available only by boat or canoe – an exciting challenge for experienced geocachers
- Night Caching - Geocaching by flashlight!
- Family Oriented Friday Night Meet & Greet - at the old Courthouse Museum. Gather at the Washington County Historical Museum and the Museum of Wisconsin Art for a free evening event that will introduce you to historical West Bend.
- Friday Night “Walk Down Main Street” – Fun geocaching event in Historic Downtown West Bend
- Even more exciting cache locations – Look for caches hidden outside West Bend in some of the region’s most scenic and historic places
- Pancake breakfast on Sunday - Hosted by the Wisconsin Geocaching Association
- Creative Cache Container Contest – Panel of judges will award prizes for the best and most originally designed containers!
- Plus Geocacher Bingo, Pathtags, 50 New Caches, Longer Cache Release and more!
